| Breaking News |  | Monday, April 28th, 1941: Player of the Week: Mazzera of the Rainbows It was announced today that Lincoln left fielder Mel Mazzera snagged the Continental League Player of the Week Award for his outstanding play last week.
He posted a .565 batting average as he collected 13 hits, 1 home run and 4 RBIs.
This season in 15 games Mazzera is batting .391 with 1 home run, 7 RBIs and has scored 12 times. |  | Friday, July 5th, 1940: Jumonville Belts 5 Hits George Jumonville had an answer for everything the Wichita Wreckers threw him today in the Lincoln 12-2 triumph at Rainbows Stadium. He made good contact 5 times and 5 times he drilled the ball for a base hit.
The Lincoln shortstop went 5 for 6 in the game to put his name in the record book.
Summing up his batting philosophy to BNN writers after the game, Jumonville said, "I just see the ball and I hit it."
G. Jumonville singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, grounded out in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 9th.

It doesn't happen every day, and when it does, it's exciting. Today John Sanford of the Orlando Pursuit had a sensational 5-6 game against Lincoln at Pursuit Ballpark. He rifled base hits all over the ballpark in his team's 15-5 shellacking of the Rainbows.
In the postgame press conference he joked, "Heck, that's a week's worth of hitting for me and I did it all in one day. I guess I can take the rest of the week off... Right, skipper?"
J. Sanford doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, grounded out in the 5th, hit a GRAND SLAM off J. Unknown in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off J. Unknown in the 9th.
