Catfish Metkovich's consecutive-game hitting streak has now climbed to 25 games. The Modesto center fielder smacked 1 hit against Nixon in today's game at Tiger Sharks Ballpark to extend it, but he has mixed emotions about it.
After losing to the Nixon Mustangs, Metkovich told reporters, "I feel good about the streak, but don't feel good when we lose."
C. Metkovich flied out in the 1st, flied out in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, hit a two-run double in the 6th and walked in the 8th.
For the year Metkovich is batting .345 with 89 hits and 3 home runs. He has scored 52 times and driven in 32.

 | Friday, June 9th, 1939: Hit Parade: Walsh Gets Cycle
It was a special day at Pursuit Ballpark for Joe P Walsh at the plate, not only did he contribute to the Pursuit 7-2 win over the Mustangs, he hit for the cycle.
"Boy, Joe P had a game, didn't he? It's a rare player that has the talent to hit for the cycle. It takes speed, power and maybe a little luck, too. You don't see this happen very often." the Orlando manager said.
Walsh went 4-4 on the day, raised his batting average to 1.000 and had 3 runs batted in and 2 runs scored -- and he got his name in the record book, too.
J. Walsh tripled in the 2nd, hit a three-run home run off J. Unknown in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th and singled in the 7th.
This season Walsh has hit at a .321 clip with 34 RBIs, 9 home runs and 34 runs scored. He has played in 57 games.

Dick Sisler burst onto the Continental League stage in a big way last week. This promising rookie first baseman for Nixon garnered everyone's respect by putting up some remarkable numbers and picking up the Player of the Week trophy.
The 18-year-old haunted opposing pitchers hitting .500 (14-28) with no home runs and 10 RBIs last week.
Sisler is hitting at a .309 mark this season. His stats show 2 home runs, 28 RBIs and 30 runs scored. He has played 52 games for the Mustangs.
