Jones posted a 1-2 mark and a 1.41 ERA in no relief appearances. In 32 innings, he stacked up no saves, 15 strikeouts and 11 walks.
| | Monday, April 28th, 1941: Patton 5-6 Against Pursuit 5 hits in a game has always been a magic number in baseball. Only a handful of players will do that. Get 5 hits in a game and you get your moment of glory... your 5 minutes of fame... you get your name in the record book.
In the Swordsmen 16-7 win over Orlando, Bill Patton was red-hot today, scorching them for hit after hit at Ballpark of Lakehurst.
"To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax. I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I must admit, I got a little tight when I realized I had a chance for a 5-hit game. On the last at-bat, I was ready to swing at anything close."
On his big day Patton delivered 5 hits in 6 at-bats.
B. Patton singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off J. Unknown in the 4th, hit a two-run single in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off J. Unknown in the 9th.
So far this season Patton has gotten 22 hits in 66 at-bats for a .333 batting average with 5 home runs. His stats include 17 RBIs and 9 runs scored. He has played in 16 games. | | Friday, April 18th, 1941: Baumholtz Goes 5-5 5 times is a charm -- at least in the world of baseball. When a player gets 5 or more hits in a game, he is honored in the record book and the latest honoree is Frank Baumholtz of the Modesto Tiger Sharks. He tore up the Lakehurst Swordsmen to the tune of 5 hits in 5 at-bats in the Modesto 7-3 win today at Tiger Sharks Ballpark.
"Baumholtz was a tough out today," the Lakehurst manager said to the press in the postgame interview. "He hit some very good pitches with that quick bat of his. Not an easy out, that's for sure."
F. Baumholtz doubled in the 1st, hit a two-run triple in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off J. Unknown in the 8th.
Baumholtz is swinging at a .400 pace on the year with 2 home runs, 5 RBIs and 12 runs scored. He has played in 9 games. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 8-11, .421 PCT | | Position in Division | 6th, 5.0 GB | | Record at home | 6-7, .462 PCT | | Record on the road | 2-4, .333 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 2-0, 1.000 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 4-3, .571 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 2-6, .250 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 6-5, .545 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 4-6, .400 PCT | | Record in April | 8-11, .421 PCT |
