| Breaking News |  | Monday, August 7th, 1939: 5-Hit Blitz by Lawrence
Wichita center fielder Bill Lawrence really lit up the Walkertown Mites with a 5-hit barrage today at Wreckers Ballpark -- a performance that sparked the Wreckers to a 10-4 triumph.
He shrugged off the performance after the game and said, "Sometimes the ball finds outfielders, today the ball found some holes."
B. Lawrence doubled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, walked in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 8th and hit an RBI double in the 9th.
Batting .229 to date, Lawrence has 6 home runs and 48 RBIs.

The Continental League Batter of the Month has been picked for June and the honor goes to the Walkertown Mites Jim Asbell.
He compiled a .367 batting average with 36 hits and 3 home runs, along with 22 RBIs and 15 runs scored.
This season Asbell is batting .324 with 91 hits, 6 home runs, 40 RBIs, .396 OBP and has scored 40 runs.
