| Breaking News | | Monday, April 28th, 1941: Patton 5-6 Against Pursuit 5 hits in a game has always been a magic number in baseball. Only a handful of players will do that. Get 5 hits in a game and you get your moment of glory... your 5 minutes of fame... you get your name in the record book.

"To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax. I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I must admit, I got a little tight when I realized I had a chance for a 5-hit game. On the last at-bat, I was ready to swing at anything close."
On his big day Patton delivered 5 hits in 6 at-bats.
B. Patton singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off J. Unknown in the 4th, hit a two-run single in the 5th, grounded out in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off J. Unknown in the 9th.
