Wednesday, November 1st, 1939: Boston (A), New York (A) Confirm Deal
A trade between Boston (A) and New York (A) was made official this morning. The Red Sox have sent 21-year old minor league starting pitcher Hank Wyse to the Yankees in exchange for 20-year old minor league left fielder Monte Irvin.



Monday, September 25th, 1939: AL Presents Player of the Week Trophy
His hard work paid off this week. The hardworking Jack Burns was rewarded with the American League Player of the Week honors.

The scrappy New York (A) Yankees first baseman hit .500 while collecting 11 hits in 22 at-bats, 1 home run and 7 RBIs.

Burns is currently hitting at a .318 pace with 13 home runs and 73 RBIs.
Friday, September 1st, 1939: American League Names #1 Pitcher in August
It was a very good month for Bill Walker in August. The 35-year-old veteran starter for the New York (A) Yankees outpitched everybody -- young and old -- to claim the American League Pitcher of the Month award earlier today.

Walker ran up a 6-0 record in his 6 starts during the month. In 48 innings he fanned 23 and recorded a 1.13 ERA.

Over the season Walker has thrown 195.1 innings and dished out 67 strikeouts with a 13-7 mark and a 3.36 ERA.
