| Breaking News |  | Saturday, July 27th, 1940: Prichard Hits in 20 Straight Games
At Snipes Ballpark today Henderson right fielder Bob Prichard stretched his consecutive-game hitting streak to 20 games with 2 hits against the Arlington Ospreys. However, the Snipes came up short on the scoreboard and lost the game 5-4.
B. Prichard flied out in the 1st, doubled in the 2nd, grounded out in the 5th, singled in the 7th and flied out in the 9th.
In 1940 Prichard is hitting .331, batted in 26 runs with 3 home runs and 19 runs scored.

 | Wednesday, July 17th, 1940: Arlington Blanked by Grove
In an impressive outing Orval Grove hurled nothing but zeros at the Ospreys today at Springers Ballpark. The Paradise pitcher allowed 6 hits, fanned 3 and walked 1 in blanking Arlington 2-0.
In 1940, Grove has a 16-4 mark in 23 starts with a 2.21 ERA. He has given up 149 hits in 187 innings, struck out 139 and issued 42 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .219 batting average against him.

Goose eggs were the order of the day for Birmingham as Boots Poffenberger shut out the Lawbreakers 3-0 at Ballpark of Arlington. The Arlington pitcher struck out 5 and walked 0 while allowing 3 hits.
