| Breaking News |  | Monday, April 21st, 1941: Butcher Zeroes in on Cedarhurst Max Butcher of the Baton Rouge Pigeons worked his mound magic on the Cedarhurst Passion. He blanked them 5-0 on 2 hits, registering 4 strikeouts and 1 walk.
"Making good pitches is the name of the game and I made some good ones in this one," said Butcher after the game.
So far this year Butcher has made 5 starts, tossed 29 innings, struck out 12 batters and walked 6. His record is 2-2 with a 2.48 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .204 batting average. |  | Saturday, April 12th, 1941: John Jackson Blanks Cedarhurst John Jackson bent a little, but he didn't break against the Passion. The Findlay pitcher hurled a 5-hit 4-0 shutout in a fine performance, surrendering 3 walks and putting up 5 strikeouts.
"John is good at getting out of jams," his manager told reporters after the game. "He's almost more effective when he gets guys on-base or gets behind in the count, because he uses your aggressiveness against you."
|  | Saturday, July 27th, 1940: Jansen Baffles Fort Wayne The Hooks manager was philosophical after his team was shut out by the Cedarhurst Passion 1-0.
"It was just one of those games, shake it off and do better next time," he said.
Larry Jansen blanked them on 3 hits with no walks and 4 strikeouts.
"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs. They were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Jansen said.
"I set them up pretty good, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."
