Thursday, May 1st, 1941: Erickson - April's Pitcher of the Month
Paul Erickson took a much-deserved turn in the spotlight earlier today as he accepted the Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Month award for April.

The 25-year-old Pigeons starter is a relative newcomer to the league, but nonetheless racked up an impressive 4-0 won-lost record in 4 starts. He has fanned 36 batters in 36.1 innings and sports a 1.98 ERA.

"Making good pitches is the name of the game and I made some good ones in this one," said Butcher after the game.

Sunday, August 11th, 1940: Johnson Shuts out Garland
In an almost effortless performance, Earl Johnson of the Pigeons shot down the Knighthawks 7-0 on a 5-hit shutout.

His skipper said, "Earl was just locating so well and using his pitches... not leaving anything over the plate."

Johnson recorded 3 strikeouts and 1 walk in a strong outing.

In the postgame press conference, the Garland manager said, "When he needed to make pitches, he elevated his game like he can and we couldn't get a key hit off him."

This season in 27 starts Earl Johnson has a record of 16-6 with 149 strikeouts in 193.2 innings and a 2.04 ERA.
