Thursday, April 17th, 1941: Year Over for Hooks Barton
Doctors in Fort Wayne said Vince Barton may not play anymore this year. The Hooks right fielder received a torn thigh muscle during a game against the Baton Rouge Pigeons and will be out for at least 7 months. Club officials told BNN they did not expect him to return to the team this season.

Saturday, September 14th, 1940: Fort Wayne Hurler Tops in Triple-A Pitcher Award Voting
Marv Breuer of the Fort Wayne Hooks was in command and couldn't do much wrong when he was on the mound this season. His outstanding 25-17 won-lost mark and 2.35 ERA were big factors in his winning the 1940 Pacific Coast League Triple-A Pitcher Award.

In 387 innings of work and 45 starts, Breuer struck out 160 while giving up 338 hits and 79 walks. He held opposing batters to a .229 average.

Monday, August 19th, 1940: PCL Player of the Week Awarded
At the age of 29, Wally Moses might have some potential he hasn't realized yet -- if his success at the plate last week is any indication. The Fort Wayne right fielder put up some exceptional numbers the past seven days collecting the Pacific Coast League Player of the Week Award.

He racked up 13 hits in 29 at-bats, 1 home run and 6 RBIs last week in 7 games.

Moses currently has a .265 batting average with 100 hits, 7 homers, 46 RBIs, 33 runs scored and a .319 OBP.
