Thursday, May 1st, 1941: Malinosky of Glendale INT Batter of the Month
Tony Malinosky is not used to being associated with Batter of the Month-caliber players, but today the Glendale third baseman joined that select company when the International League announced the results of April's voting.

Malinosky totaled 22 hits, 13 walks, 3 home runs, 11 RBIs and 11 runs scored last month to put together a .367 batting average and .473 on-base percentage.

Friday, April 18th, 1941: Crossbows Blank Winter Hawks, Olsen Wins
Vern Olsen had the Glendale Winter Hawks dancing to his tune today with a sparkling 3-0 shutout performance for the Huntington Beach Crossbows. He gave up 2 hits and collected 3 walks and 3 strikeouts.

Glendale hitters were bewildered throughout the game by his delivery.

The opposing manager said, "When you face a guy who hides the ball like he does, it takes a couple of at-bats to try to find his release point. We just never figured him out."

Monday, August 19th, 1940: Bald Eagles Hitless Against Moore
The Glendale Winter Hawks were only hoping for a solid outing from Dee Moore, instead the 26-year-old pitcher tossed a no-hitter against the Reno Bald Eagles. Using a brilliant mix of offspeed pitches and fastballs, Moore kept the Reno hitters off balance all game long in the 4-0 victory at Winter Hawks Ballpark. The Glendale hurler fanned 2 and walked 5 in his record-making performance.

"I felt pretty good throughout the game," he said after his spectacular outing for the Winter Hawks. "As I was going into the ninth inning, I was not nervous. I knew I had a chance to do something special."

That something special got his name in the league record books.

In 24 starts this year Moore has recorded a 6-12 record and a 4.82 ERA.
