| Breaking News |  | Monday, April 28th, 1941: Dean Spins Shutout Against Chesapeake In an almost effortless performance, Dizzy Dean of the Riflemen shot down the Diamonds 5-0 on a 6-hit shutout.
His skipper said, "Dizzy was just locating so well and using his pitches... not leaving anything over the plate."
Dean recorded 6 strikeouts and 3 walks in a strong outing.
In the postgame press conference, the Chesapeake manager said, "When he needed to make pitches, he elevated his game like he can and we couldn't get a key hit off him."
This year Dean has a 3-3 record and a 2.81 ERA. |  | Friday, April 18th, 1941: Surkont Hot, Diamonds Cold According to Max Surkont of the Kalida Swans, "There are three important elements in pitching success: location, location, and location." He told his pitching philosophy to sportswriters in the postgame interview after his 6-0 victory over Chesapeake.
He blanked them on a 6-hitter, allowed 2 walks and had 3 strikeouts. "I really felt comfortable the whole game," Surkont said.
His manager echoed his comments, saying, "He hit his spots time and time again."
