St. Louis (A) pitcher Ken Chase blanked the Chicago (A) White Sox 3-0, tossing a 2-hitter while issuing 1 walk and collecting 4 strikeouts.
After his sharp shutout performance, he said that he gives a lot of the credit to his batterymate. "Me and him are just locked in out there. He's so great at having a feel for hitters. I couldn't do what I'm doing without him."

The Chicago (A) White Sox met their match today in Boston (A) hurler Marius Russo. He kept them guessing the whole game and spun a 3-hit shutout.
"He just worked us over," the Chicago (A) skipper said. "He probably didn't even take a shower after the game. I don't think he even worked up a sweat. They could probably pitch him again tomorrow."
In the 3-0 victory Russo whiffed 5 and gave up 3 walks.
In 1939 Russo has compiled a 24-6 record with a 2.34 ERA in 34 starts.
