The Cubs put the Boston (A) Red Sox out of their misery with a 6-1 victory at Wrigley Field and took the series 4-2.

He hurled the New York (N) Giants to a 4-0 shutout victory over the Chicago (N) Cubs, yielding 5 hits with 5 strikeouts and 2 walks.
"He threw strikes and he was always around the plate," the Chicago (N) skipper said. "The ball was doing everything he wanted it to do. We hit some balls hard, but they were all right at the fielders."

Yesterday at Wrigley Field the Chicago (N) veteran joined the 2000-hit club. Ott achieved that milestone with a 4-for-5 day in the Cubs 9-6 win over the Boston (N) Braves.
He spoke to reporters in the clubhouse after the game and said, "Looking at the list of all the great players who have done this is humbling. It is a great honor to be among them."
