Thursday, July 19th, 1945: Athletics Chill Kell's Hot Streak
George Kell's 20-game hitting streak has now come and gone. It was snapped today in the Red Sox 2-1 setback to the Athletics. Kell went without a hit in 3 trips to the plate. Talking to BNN after the game he was visibly upset. But the streak had little to do with it.

"I'm disappointed we lost, I'm not one bit disappointed that the streak ended," Kell said. "The hitting streak was just one of those things where it was fun while it lasted, but I'm not going to lose any sleep tonight."

So far in 1945 Kell is batting .276 with 3 home runs, 23 RBIs and 48 runs scored. He has 100 hits in 362 at-bats and a .326 OBP.
Wednesday, July 18th, 1945: 20-Game Hitting Streak for Kell
George Kell ran his hitting streak to 20 straight games today at Fenway Park II, when he collected 1 hit in 5 at-bats.

"Hey, the streak is great. I hope it never ends. But I'm not happy when we lose the game," was his comment after Boston (A) was beaten 5-4 by the Philadelphia (A) Athletics.

"The scoreboard tells the whole story."
G. Kell grounded out in the 1st, grounded out in the 4th, struck out in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off D. Ferriss in the 8th and flied out in the 9th.

Kell on the season is hitting .279 with 3 home runs. His stats include 23 RBIs and 48 runs scored.
