Triple-A Baseball News Article | | | Friday, May 31st, 1940: Gill Spins Shutout "I hope we miss him next time," the Hialeah manager said. "Gill certainly pitched a strong game against us today. He was in a groove, throwing everything for strikes. Throwing hard. Changing speeds."
Chesapeake starter George Gill tamed the Hialeah Norsemen 1-0 with a 4-hit shutout, finishing the game with 1 strikeout and 2 walks in a sharp outing.
"I enjoy facing a team like that where I can get an out on one, two or three pitches," Gill said. "It gives me a chance to be a lot more aggressive."
This season Gill has picked up no saves and posted a 9-1 record with a 2.23 ERA. He has no relief appearances, tossed 105 innings and struck out 42. | |
