Wednesday, May 22nd, 1940: Devens Sparkles, Blanks Spokane
Charlie Devens of the Riverside Talons shut out the Spokane Rascals 3-0, held them to 3 hits with 1 walk and 7 strikeouts. Devens said, "I could throw any pitch on any count."

The Spokane skipper called his game a jewel, saying, "The way he was pitching, it would have been tough for anyone to beat him."

In 11 starts this year Devens has crafted a 6-3 record and a 3.26 ERA.
