Monday, September 4th, 1939: AL Awards Player of the Week
It can be difficult for a young player to step out of the shadows and assert himself in the American League, but last week Johnny Lindell of the Detroit Tigers reminded everyone just why he's here as he threw up numbers that made him an easy selection for Player of the Week.

Lindell rocked opposing pitching for a .423 average (11-26), no home runs and 6 RBIs to come away with the award.

Lindell is batting .310 this year with 16 home runs, 89 RBIs and 82 runs scored. He has 155 hits in 500 at-bats.
