Saturday, August 12th, 1939: Knickerbocker 5-5 for Giants
"It was almost like batting practice. I saw the ball very well and could just about hit it anywhere I wanted." That's what New York (N) shortstop Bill Knickerbocker said to BNN reporters after his fantastic 5-5 day against the Brooklyn Dodgers at Polo Grounds. "I got some good counts and used the whole field."

The Giants had a good day, too, and won the ballgame 7-6.

B. Knickerbocker doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.

On the season, Knickerbocker is batting .309 with 5 home runs and 57 RBIs. He has played in 107 games.
