Sunday, August 6th, 1939: 2500 Hits for Waner
The day belonged to Paul Waner of the Boston (N) Braves as he became the latest player to reach the 2500-hit plateau. He did it in Boston (N)'s 5-3 win over Cincinnati.

"It's a moment I'll never forget," said Waner after the game, "2500 hits is a lot. It puts you in a very select group. I never expected to be around long enough to reach a milestone like this."

He finished the day with 1 hits in 4 at-bats.

During his career Waner is batting .332 and has totaled 80 home runs.
