 | Tuesday, August 1st, 1939: July's AL Batter of Month Award Announced When Ted Williams stepped up to the plate in July, he did it with confidence and today he was honored with the American League Batter of the Month award. The young Philadelphia (A) left fielder posted a .425 batting average with 8 home runs, 21 RBIs and scored 30 runs. Williams also worked pitchers for 34 walks to post a .582 on-base percentage. Thus far in 1939 Williams is hitting .393 with 26 home runs, 80 RBIs, 85 runs scored and has compiled a .542 OBP. |
