Monday, July 31st, 1939: Fox and Gehringer Traded
St. Louis (N) and Cleveland have agreed to a trade today. 28-year old first baseman Hank Greenberg, 30-year old right fielder Pete Fox, 31-year old shortstop Billy Jurges and a 3rd round draft pick will go to the Indians. In exchange the Cardinals will receive 36-year old second baseman Charlie Gehringer and 26-year old first baseman Johnny Mize.

So far this season Fox has hit .290 with 3 home runs, 30 RBIs and and scored 28 times.

This year Gehringer has batted at a .297 pace with 118 hits, 10 home runs, 48 RBIs and scored 62 times.
