Monday, July 17th, 1939: Hit Parade: Dandridge Pops 5 Hits
5 times is a charm -- at least in the world of baseball. When a player gets 5 or more hits in a game, he is honored in the record book and the latest honoree is Ray Dandridge of the Philadelphia (N) Phillies.

He tore up the New York (N) Giants to the tune of 5 hits in 5 at-bats in the Philadelphia (N) 8-3 win today at Baker Bowl.

"Dandridge was a tough out today," the New York (N) manager said to the press in the postgame interview. "He hit some very good pitches with that quick bat of his. Not an easy out, that's for sure."

R. Dandridge tripled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a three-run home run off G. Jeffcoat in the 8th.

So far in 1939, Dandridge is batting .313 with 5 home runs and 42 RBIs.
