 | Saturday, July 1st, 1939: NL Selects Rookie Star of the Month Tommy Holmes's eyes seem to light up whenever he sees the baseball. The young Cincinnati right fielder has been hitting everything in sight for the better part of a month. In June he was voted the Rookie of the Month Award. During the month he hit .322 with 7 doubles, 1 triple and 1 home run. Holmes also scored 14 times and drove in 12 runs. This season Holmes has hit at a .295 clip and produced 31 RBIs, 4 home runs and 38 runs scored. |
